Institute of Co-operative Management for Agriculture & Rural Development (ICMARD) is imparting need based training to the cause of updating knowledge, skill & attitude to the officials working in the long term cooperative sector of the state and to a limited extent to the long term sector employees of the North Eastern Region.
ICMARD is located nearby Bidhan Nagar Road Railway Station, Ultadanga, at Block 14/2, CIT Scheme VIII (M), Ultadanga, Kolkata – 700 067, with modern equipments and infrastructure to cater to the need of the Cooperative officials by capacity building techniques through its training products like Financial Management, Project appraisal, Scheme financing, NPA & recovery management, Management development programmes and Organisation development interventions and alike. ICMARD products are under the refinance facilities of National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) under its SOFTCOB programme.
ICMARD organizes the programmes from April to February, where March is the shut period. Apart from the Principal and Faculty members, the Institute out-sources the resource persons from various organizations of repute, NABARD, West Bengal State Cooperative Agriculture & Rural Development Bank Ltd. (WBSCARDB) and the Co-operation Directorate of the State.

The training of available human resources of the cooperative banking organizations has to play a key role in toning up their performance to the required level Academy for Cooperative Management Research and Training (ACMART) was created to fill up the void of a training infrastructure for a dedicated effort of Human Resource Development. ACMART started functioning immediately after it was formally inaugurated by the Hon’ able Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, on 27 September, 2001. By now it has conducted a large number of training programme and workshops on subjects of varied topical interest relevant to cooperative banking and HRD aspects. The beneficiaries ranges from functionaries at the grass root levels viz. PACS, to top level officers and non-official directors of DCCBs, UCBs and the Cooperation Department/Directorate , Government of West Bengal and category – III employees of the WBSCB.
Governing Council

The Academy is a residential training centre with a lodging capacity of about 30 trainees and the entire expenditure pertaining to conduction of training programme is borne by the promoter bank i.e. WBSCB with some financial support from NABARD. No course fee is collected from the trainees. The academy has also Library enriched with reference books on Banking, Accounting, Economics Cooperation, Agriculture and allied activities, Training, Management etc. Further the academy has a computer Lab with necessary peripherals meant both for conducting training programme and data processing.
In fine ACMART is a small, compact and self contained training institute armoured with all modern training aid and equipments in the Cooperative Sector in the State.
